Acapulco Gold

6 measures pineapple juice
1 measure grapefruit juice
2 measures coconut cream
2 measures fresh cream
1 scoop crushed ice

Named for a potent, yellow leaved form of marijuana from Acapulco, Mexico, this rich, creamy drink is more street legal than the original but shares the laid back attitude of the days of

Shake all the ingredients together. This time, do not strain the result, but pour it straight from the shaker to retain the rich, creamy texture. Decorate with a paper parasol or even a paper flower to set off the delicate colouring.

American Beauty

1 measure brandy
1 measure dry vermouth
1 measure grenadine
1 measure orange juice
1 dash white cr

This sumptuous drink packs quite a punch, so beware: too many beauties may bring our the beast in you!!

Shake together all the ingredients except the port. Strain, and pour the port gently onto the surface so that it floats on top. The glowing colours, a rich tawny-orange set off by a ruby crown of port, are garnish enough.

Americano

1 measure sweet vermouth
1 measure campari
Ice cubes
Soda water
Slice of orange or twist of lemon peel to garnish

The Italian aperitif Campari provides a deep pink colour and adds a bitter-sweet tang to the vermouth.

Half fill a highball glass with ice cubes; pour in the vermouth and Campari; top up with soda water; garnish with orange of lemon.
