The first thing to say about this hotel is that it is no ordinary hotel, with 900 bedrooms it is almost a self contained community on its own, save for the fact that it is to be found at Marble arch, ideal for some serious retail therapy along the long stretch of shops down and beyond Oxford Circus.

The hotel reception was, to put it mildly, a wonder to behold, with bright changing colours, highly futuristic statues and wide open spaces. It was quite different from any other hotel seen or visited in recent years, a world far removed from the old traditional Cumberland Hotel which hosted so many guests as well as delegates for the many meetings held within the hotel.
