The British Red Cross has continue their appeal to aid tens of thousands of people affected by a severe earthquake that devastated areas of Pakistan and India on 8 October.
It is one of the coldest winters in decades but even those families whose houses survived the Asian earthquake on 8 October 2005 choose to sleep outside in tents. The fear of another earthquake is greater than the fear of freezing to death.
Fears are fuelled not only by the earthquake, but also by continuing aftershocks, which are almost daily reminders of what was one of the deadliest disasters to hit south Asia in a century.
Shelter/protection against the winter will remain, with the provision of food, the first of several priorities (alongside medical assistance and water and sanitation) to enable people to remain in their villages if they so desire.
About 324,000 people (or 46,000 families) have been identified as likely to remain in inaccessible areas during the winter period.
