I eagerly awaited the opening of this restaurant in late October as it coincided with a visit to the area by my Granny Mac and Granddad Mac, known as Sue and Alan, coming to stay with me for a half term break. I think they also arrived with a few presents for me also, judging by the extra bags they brought when they arrived at the train station, especially as it will be my second birthday on November 20th. Visiting this restaurant was going to give me the opportunity to show what a clever girl I am, using a big knife and fork and eating a meal in a high chair alongside adult company.

The restaurant looked wonderful, with lines of rich red seats, lots of polished wood and a stunning bar with an immense collection of glasses catching the light. Our table for four, together with me in a highchair provided, was next to the floor to ceiling window, looking out on a lengthy patio area, a wonderful venue during the hot summer months but not on a cold and rainy October evening. Despite the size of the restaurant and the cold wet weather outside the restaurant was warm, my coat was quickly removed and I was ready for action, and food. The rapid arrival of garlic bread, fresh bread and olives was my green light, the garlic bread not too strong, it blended well with my mineral water as both my parents and grandparents pondered the menu, discussing the numerous dishes on offer and suggesting wines to match, all boring adult stuff.

Then, as easily as that, disaster struck. My plastic cup of mineral water burst open and covered my jeans, soaking me and raising my daddy
