Twyford has, as one of its latest additions, another superb restaurant with the arrival last year of Ttavas, an authentic Greek restaurant offering a very different style of food to what is available elsewhere in the area.

A very warm welcome gave Sue and I our first impressions of the restaurant and we were shown to an excellent table by the window. The restaurant was quiet at seven but rapidly became busy, full within half an hour.

We dined on a warm Saturday evening, and the efficient air conditioning was very welcome as was the background music which was loud enough to remove the initial museum silence but quiet enough to allow easy conversation. So what of the food, the menu is totally Greek without any fall back international dishes and caters well for vegetarians. A little knowledge of Greek dishes or prior to eating taking a look at the menu would therefore help with your selection, Sue guided me through the drinks menu, her various visits to Kos provided her with an authority on alcohol. Failing that a chat with the highly engaging and attentive staff will help the selection process, their humour and knowledge were refreshing.

Sue launched her Greek journey with Salata Horiatiko, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, black olives and feta cheese, tossed in a vinegar and olive oil dressing a wonderful starter but could easily have been a light lunch main course dish.

I entered into the Greek spirit by selecting the Loukanika, a spiced Greek sausage served with a simple salad and a chunk of lemon. A simple but delicious dish, it had a little
