Travelling as the guest of Eurostar and Eurostar Holidays recently to their new destination of Avignon, in the heart of Provence, gave me the opportunity to try their food, served to all passengers travelling 1st Class. The journey, some seven hundred miles, takes passengers from Waterloo station to the walled city of Avignon, a cultural capital of Provence, a veritable jewellery collection of Michelin starred restaurants, vineyards and views to simply savour.
Within an hour of leaving Waterloo at 7.22am on Saturday morning breakfast was being served in the spacious compartments with folding tables to allow eating and reading to be enjoyed in comfort.
Organic yogurt served with orange juice started my exciting journey. There then followed the main part of the breakfast, a choice of:
Pork and leek sausage with spinach rolled omelette, back bacon and grilled tomato
