I knew we were in for an evening to remember as soon as Helen Rathbone, PR and Marketing Specialist from the Compleat Angler asked if I would like have a boat ride before I dined at the restaurant. As I drove the twenty minutes to the hotel and restaurant even the weather was determined to ensure that we had an evening to remember, the sun grew stronger with each mile as we approached the pretty town of Marlow in Buckinghamshire.
An extensive car park ensured there were no parking difficulties and the warm welcome by the staff set the tone for the evening. The hotel and the restaurant were busy, especially for midweek, although a few minutes admiring the views from this spectacular location underlined the appeal.
A glass of champagne each and off we went, on board the latest of three boats used by the hotel for the benefit of the guests of the hotel. This was an addition on the menu for those who require a little extra for their entertainment, our personalised half hour trip along the river was little short of wonderful. Keith our skipper for the trip and his charming wife and crew, Gabrielle, know this stretch of the river so well that they made sure that nothing was left out on this sun covered trip.
