Domino's Pizza is the world's leading pizza delivery company and was founded in the United States in 1960. There are currently more than 7,000 stores operating in 50 international markets. The first UK store opened in 1985 and as of June this year there were 337 stores in the UK and Ireland. There is bound to be one near you.
There certainly was in Nuneaton, the nearest Domino's to my daughter Emma, and her husband Jamie, at home entertaining on a warm August evening in August. Sue my other half and my younger daughter, Rebecca, were visiting and the idea was to have a relaxed and enjoyable evening without either cooking or dressing up to go out. Emma is in the advanced state of pregnancy which removes enthusiasm for cooking but certainly not eating. I now know what eating for two means!
The ease of using the worldwide experience of Domino's is the reliability and quality, the twin pillars which have built the reputation which attracts so many orders on a daily basis. Logging into the website gives everyone the opportunity to find their local store through your post code, within a couple of clicks you are facing the difficult decision of the order, with so many opportunities on offer life is difficult.
With all the information on screen, or in the case of millions across the length and breadth of the country with a delivered copy of the colour menu, the next stage is the order. With both photographs and descriptions the selection procedure is not made easy with the multitude and variety of toppings on offer; that in addition to the pizzas being offered in three sizes, small, medium and large. As well as almost twenty pizzas on offer you can even create your own by adding a variety of toppings, thus giving maximum choice to hungry diners ringing in their orders.
Delivery if free so you pay, by credit card or even cash, without any additional charges, relieving you of travelling, parking or driving home afterwards.
Let's get back to the main part of the evening, the actual food. The extensive menu allows groups, like Jamie and Emma and the family guests to enjoy an entire meal, starters, main course pizzas and a desserts, even non alcoholic drinks.
The food order made, and, more importantly, the delivery time requested and arrangements were made for the food. Plates organised, glasses brought out and the table made ready, what little effort expended to ensure the smooth arrival of the three courses and drinks.
At eight precisely the doorbell rang and a young man wearing a wide smile announced his arrival from Domino's, with all the food as ordered together with the non alcoholic drinks. Wine, not available from Domino's for obvious reasons was already on the table ready to accompany the newly arrived food.
First on the plates were the starters, a selection of Chicken Dunkers
