Under the experienced direction of the Bowe family, headed by Mary and Ray and very ably supported by daughter Margaret as General Manager this is a quite magnificent twenty bedroom country house with six state rooms and fourteen bedrooms, all offering splendour and style, filled with antiques and works of art. The house is at the heart of 36 acres of woodland and colourful grounds, including a lake, wildfowl reserve, woodland walks and an extensive kitchen garden. Marlfield has an unrivalled reputation for the warmth of the welcome as well as the luxury of the surroundings. We were able to see this reflected in the marvellous entrance, and in our arrival and safe installation in the Morland Room, one of the suites within Marlfield House. A rapid check in at an antique table rather than an extensive series of desks underlined the courtesy and consideration given to visitors, the welcoming open fire an attraction to all regardless of the weather. An impressive four poster bed dominated our room, supported by complementary antique furniture and paintings, with French doors leading to the garden overlooking the lake.
With Egyptian cotton sheets, Molton Brown toiletries in the extensive marble bathroom and fresh flowers freshly cut for the gardens this level of details was indicative of the entire visit, individuality allied to care and attention to the many and varies needs of the customer.
