This is a service provided by that fine supermarket chain, Waitrose, a service designed to make entertaining simpler and easier. It was my mission over the recent festive period to put the supermarket to the test.

The service, available online as well as by visiting one of the many shops throughout the land, reflects the thoughts behind the service, that of allowing the host to enjoy he special occasion and allowing the guests to fully appreciate the company of the host as well as the food. In other words virtually everything is done for you, only the smallest finishing touches need to be added for a complete dinner party, sumptuous buffet or lengthy lunch party to be appreciated and fully enjoyed.

I had family visiting during the festive break, sufficient numbers to ensure thought and planning were the twin pillars upon which to build a suitable buffet to feed the family. Allowing my mouse to do the searching the By Invitation by Waitrose leapt out as the outstanding service for my needs, in fact the introduction to the service included the words which adequately summed up the entire process,
