The New Forest is a greatly understated part of the country, a beautiful expanse offering walks, visits, attractions and a range of restaurants and hotels. Our short journey of little more than an hour took us to a hotel boasting three different restaurants and a superb spa as well as plenty of rooms, so it was no problem as to where to stay for a short two day break during the last days of August. On line arrangements allowed me to see the facilities, appreciate the opportunities and make a booking. Modern technology has great advantages when making such decisions.
Our room, a four poster Manor Room, with traditional furniture had everything needed to ensure both comfort and safety. A sizeable four poster bed, brightly decorated in yellow and matching colours, dominated the room, with a more than plentiful supply of storage space for the short or slightly longer stay, together with an en suite bathroom with shower and bath, thick fluffy towels and complementary toiletries. An added positive feature was the preponderance of mirrors, two in the bathroom and three in the bedroom; admiring glances from all concerned.
